Dear friend, welcome!
Wake Up New York is a group of young adults practicing mindfulness and meditation, inspired by the teachings on engaged Buddhism of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. We aspire to be a place of refuge, nourishment and support for anyone with an aspiration to transform their own suffering and cultivate compassion, understanding, and love. We gather weekly on Friday nights to practice sitting and walking meditation, to share a dharma reading, and listen deeply to one another. We also organize social events and retreats to connect with each other mindfully and strengthen our practice.
We meet on Friday evenings from 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM EST. We continue to gather virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Wake Up New York is the NYC chapter of Wake Up International and is part of the Community of Mindfulness New York Metro. You can learn more about the global Wake Up movement here. Our practitioners are young adults traditionally aged 18-35 but all are welcome.
